After some good soaking rains over the last few days, this afternoon brightened into perfect gardening weather. It was cool, sunny, and windy. In addition to getting a few things planted and others transferred, I photographed the plants that are currently in bloom. So here is May 15th this year, in far northern Illinois.
Pulmonaria
Sulphureum Barrenwort
Creeping Phlox
Bleeding Heart
Lilac
Korean Spice Viburnum
Flowering Quince
Redbud
Thyme
Lovely blooms, Renee. I'm always surprised how much a few miles south can make a difference--you're about two weeks behind us in bloom time, it seems. Of course, last week's heat wave really speeded things up here, too. The weekend's rain was welcome, but I'm hoping for a few dry days to finally get some more things planted.
ReplyDeleteI have always admired the bleeding heart, but we have very little shade and waaay too much wind! Yours are so lovely.
