The Shade Garden

This garden is against a picket fence, on the west side of a small stand of trees.  Although it's on the west side of the trees, the house, across a small strip of lawn, shades it.  Between the trees and house, it is completely shaded for most of the summer months.  The trees are deciduous, though, so there is filtered sun in spring.

I planted hostas in this garden in the fall of 2008 --a variety of them.  They are beginning to really fill in.  I have also planted some bulbs on the south corner of the bed, where they get a little more sun.  In the spring of 2011 I planted two pink foxglove as well.  I'm hoping it will bloom next summer.
